Edward's 2026 Tea Trip
Join Edward's 2026 trip to China for tea adventures and insights.
A few words from Edward
Steep yourself into the terroir, the leaf, the scene, and the people.
Thank you for being here, and for the quiet curiosity that brings you to tea. To me, tea has never been just a drink; it is a way to listen to the earth.
I am inviting a few of you to join me this April to walk the private backyards of heritage masters and go where the maps don’t lead. We will hike into the bamboo silence of Zhenghe and work the charcoal fires of Wuyi, while designing our own teapot. This journey is demanding, honest, and deeply personal.
Join me for this trip across the origins of Green, Rock, Black, White, Phoenix teas and teapots. Meet the people behind the leaf—and perhaps, find a few more similar minds along the way.
Highlight of the Tea Journey

Technical Immersion This residency is centered on the private workshops of recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritors. Participants will observe and practice processing techniques for Rock Tea, White Tea, Phoenix oolong, and Black Tea, guided directly by lineage holders. In Yixing, you will work one-on-one with a master instructor to design and build a Purple Clay (Zisha) teapot. The piece will be professionally fired and shipped to your home in Canada after the trip.
Academic & Cultural Context The schedule includes visits to selective museums, premium teaware galleries, and a professional tea teaching studio. We also include cultural anchors, such as a guided study of the Great Wall and the Big Red Robe immersive performance. The academic perspective is highlighted by a private, informal meeting with the Dean of the Tea Program at South China Agricultural University, providing personal insight into modern tea science.
The journey continues from afar
Travel to the origins of tea is not always possible, yet the curiosity remains. The Tea Hunt and Tea Patron was created for those who wish to participate from afar. While moving through China’s tea regions, I seek out producers and distinctive teas, bringing back what the journey reveals.
